Hear now what I say!
From this day forward
I shall not be afraid.
No more dread of laughter,
no more fear of pain
It’s time to start the process
of living
once again.
I don't know who pushed,
and caused me down
to slide, but
I have my suspects,
they're living deep inside.

Love the wry " I have my suspects". Lovely drama with a touch of mild amusement.

greyscale - thanks! I suffer from the inability to be totally serious about anything... :)
I agree with greyscale - powerful drama softened by humor - excellant!
Ha! Like the humorous self-criticism with the the anthem to freedom. A friend of mine said, "I take life really seriously; I just don't take myself that seriously." Or as another friend said, "Flaky, yet moist."
this was very nice...really enjoyed it
Thanks Cricket's Hearth!

ul - thank you. :)
It is very deep in its simplicity.

Love the humour injecting a serious subject with a dose of optimism.
I love it. It really speaks to me and I enjoy the shot of dry humor in it too!

An important point can often be made best with a touch of humour.
Excellent.

Sinister with a smirk! I like it.
keith- thanks!
When we are in trouble, the easiest way is to look outside to find someone or something to blame, but yeah, have we tried to look inside?
Realization.
We get better result knowing where the faults are coming and doing something about it. It is us who would benefit more in the end.
I wish you well.

Just excellent! ...and may you empower yourself fully, that your 'self-talk' always lift you up... ;)
Jeques - thanks for your thoughtful commentary. Self realization is great cannon fodder for poems - as long as they don't lapse into the maudlin...
Rob - Thanks for the great thoughts!
