I get desperate and make my own. Only Anonymous can save me from baking my own pie in the scorching heat of August. I'm just saying...
Since my hometown is the only place I could find broccoli on a pizza (quit cringing - *g* thin sliced and topped with olive oil, it's great! ) I've made my own version numerous times. This one was bella mushroms and red peppers, however. Not that you can see that under the cheese. Mozzarella, asiago, and fontina. Imported cheese that a friend brought back from out of state for me. When you're in good pizza withdrawl, Kraft doesn't cut it.
Anyone else out there make their own pizza? What do you put on it? Anything odd, or just the straightforward? If you must resort to ordering out, what pizza place gets your call?

I sometimes make my own. I love odd combinations you don't find anywhere. You just don't put sauerkraut on a pizza. ;)
We don't have chains but lots of private pizza restaurants that also run a delivery service, so no favourite that would mean anything to a reader outside Göttingen. If I order, it's usually one with seafood, or a very hot pizza.

Weirdest pizza I ever had was in Naples, Italy, where they put squid, octopus and eel on it. The eel was by far the best part. The rest tasted like pencil erasers and silly string. Put me off seafood for many a year. *g*
I make my own pizza. Mostly in August when I have fresh plum tomatoes out of the garden :-) Usually I just add mushrooms, herbs and cheese to the tomatoes, and maybe some red peppers if I have them.
In Grenoble I once had a pizza with walnuts on it (did you know the Grenoble walnut has Appellation Controlee status?) and blue mountain cheese, and very good it was too.

Carla, walnuts and blue cheese sounds good to me. I'm not a big meat on pizza fan - unless I know the meat. So many icky pepperonis out there...

I'd come get Nirchi's, but I'm afraid my poor pony would drown swimming the Mississippi. At least Lupo's does mail order. *grumble, grumble*

Funny... even as I was reading this, I was cramming homemade pizza into my mouth.
I always liked a good Spinach Pizza, with some ricotta cheese and olive oil.
But I still like one combination of toppings more than any other. Sausage and Black Olives. It just works.

I would head East, but I'm heading south this week to WorldCon in Denver. And I don't have to change planes 3 times. Find me a more direct flight, and I'll come East... of course microbrew and spiedies are the main temptation...
