The random prompt generator strikes again. My word was 'vista'. Tempting as it was to take Bill Gates to task; I resisted and tapped my love of the past instead.
Historical Fragments
by Constance Brewer
My favorite things are old and gray
antiqued, dead, and gone,
although I cannot touch them now
their ambiance lives on.
A picture perfect memory,
of a place I've never been,
built up by books and artisans,
lost music from within.

I like how it paints a certain kind of room and a certain atmosphere, with a minimum of words
I like this piece of poetic archeology!
A lovely ode to history and its legacy.
It took me back to olden times!
You're doing better with the random prompt generator than I am! I love the last line.
Thanks, guys!
Carole, I've been getting interesting prompts, which is good, because I've been too lazy to dig for ideas of late. :P
Perky poetry paints a huge picture!Well done!
oh constance,,, that was wonderful... i feel the gaiety of your love for history,, for the ancients and the path that they tread making the way for us... this was really lovely.....
giggles - thanks! Although the word 'perky' is scaring me a bit. :P
paisley - Thanks - one of these days I'll actually post a historical poem instead of a poem about history. :)
This is beautiful.
Btw, where's that relief picture from?
I'm glad you chose this vista over Microsoft. Nice piece!
Gabriele - Istanbul Archaeology Museum
tumblewords - it seemed the less aggravating of the choices!
