Late Breaking Aliens

Yes, we did another Alien Inspection last month, I didn't post it because the Poem A Day challenge was taking up all my brainpower at the time. So here are some pictures from that expedition to the backside of Devils Tower.

This time around was an all wildlife all the time trip. We saw lots, domestic and wild. I used my coworkers Nikon L110(?) camera for this series, not sure I like the autofocus and the big screen on the back is hard to see in sunshine- not that there was a whole lot of that, still, it makes me kind of reconsider replacing my old Canon flip screen. I did like the zoom on it, though. I'd love a digital SLR, but I haven't won the lottery - yet.

Here is the lineup for the expedition. First up - turkeys! The males were strutting, the females disinterested, and the hunters salivating.

"Gertrude! Did you see that? The nerve of some males..."

"Look over here, ladies, check this out..."

"Who da man? I am, oh yeah...
Read? Of course I can't read. Why do you ask??"
On the other hand

The deer were shy and elusive.

The cattle aloof and indifferent.

Or indifferently aloof.

The sheep, though, were curious and strangely scary.

Or shaggy scary.

And now for some landscapes.
Hulett from the golf course, featuring the sawmill.

Red rocks around Hulett
More red rocks and pasture.

Some bonus wildlife from coworker K when she was over in the west side of the state. You'll see why she has no problems slamming on the breaks when I yell 'Stop! Picture!"

Bighorn sheep

Bison

Honkers

Elk

And if that wasn't enough to intimidate you, a wolf track.

And Then It Was Mid May

--and nobody thought to tell me, or pay my bills for me, or whap me upside the head with a cluestick because really, despite insistence to the contrary, it really is all about Me.

On the other hand, Graduation is - really, really soon. How could I not have noticed?

Whilst I go scurry about doing things I forgot to do before the middle of May, here's some pictures to keep you entertained. I'll be back soon with an actual post. (I hope)

First, a rare sighting of a 6-legged Corgi! It happens to be sporting the dreaded black bunny butt. I snapped a pic, quick like, before the Fringe-y apparition disappeared.

Merlin in one of the few times he paused while playing fetch. He goes until that tongue hangs to his knees. Hey! For a Corgi that's a long way.

A tired Corgi is a happy Corgi . . .

Would you like to know what that is all over Max's back? Really? You really want to know? Are you sure? Slobber. Merlin slobber and spit to be precise. Merlin likes to chew on Max as Max runs with the ball. Ewwwwwwwwww. Since Max gets the ball 8 out of 10 times, the slobber adds up. Luckily, it brushes out. Eww.

Anubis' take on the slobber?
"Merlin, dude, seriously. Knock it off, it's like, gross."

"Throw the ball! Throw the ball! C'mon, throw it! Throw the ball. Now!----

How about now? Now! Throw the -- Oooh, look, a bird!"

And finally, some apple blossoms from my front yard tree. Apparently, a day of snow, rain, sleet and hail didn't even phase them. More than I can say for some mailpersons. Where oh where is my package??

And no, it's not a Batman decoder ring.

It's a surprise. For me.

So there.

Get A Free Ebook From Kris Reisz And Win Artwork!

Remember that super-secret, hush-hush art project I was working on a few months ago? NO?

Ah well, I forgive you.

Hard to keep track of things you have no knowledge of.

So, the secret project is complete.

Periphery Arts teamed up with author Kristopher Reisz in celebration of the release of the new version of his novel Unleashed.

I created four black and white lino block prints based on four Kristopher Reisz short stories. The prints are eight by ten inches, (3) and nine by twelve inches (1), printed on Japanese Masa paper with Daniel Smith water based relief inks.

But here - I'll let Kristopher tell you in his own words.

"Hooray! Both a spiffy new trade edition and the Kindle version of Unleashed came out Tuesday!

To help promote it, I also released a short story collection, Quiet Haunts and Other Stories, as free ebook. (Click here to download it.)

Quiet Haunts contains a couple old favorites and a couple new stories that haven't appeared anywhere else. And just to make sure you guys knew how much I love you, I got Constance Brewer, the enormously talented printmaker, poet, and scourge of evildoers everywhere, to illustrate each story.

Constance sent me three copies of each print. One I'm keeping, but I want to give the other two away. So send me an email at KrisReisz@gmail.com with CONTEST in the subject line and your name andaddress in the body. Next Tuesday (May 11th), I'll pick eight people who'll get both a copy of Unleashed signed by me and a piece of original art signed by Constance.

So to recap...

Pick up Unleashed, now in lovely trade paperback and Kindle editions.

Then download Quiet Haunts and Other Stories to enjoy my stories and Constance's art.

And finally, shoot me an email KrisReisz@gmail.com to win awesome stuff.

How much more Kristopher Reisz-y goodness could you ask for!?

Kris Reisz

There you have it, boys and girls. Win artwork! Get a free ebook! Go buy Unleashed for Kindle or in paperback!

It's Win-Win-Buy!

It's awesome-y Kris Reisz goodness!

It's good for the economy!

What are you waiting for?

Note: Unleashed was a fine read, I enjoyed it. But don't just take my word for it. Both my teens liked it so much they had to have their own copies or much fighting would commence. What more could you ask for - A book both mom and kids can fight over!

So pick up your copy. And remember what the man said. Don't make me scourge you.
