Road Trip - The Wildlife Edition

Road Trip - Guess where I went today? I'll give you a great big hint -

The annual road trip to Devils Tower country.
It started out slightly sunny, and rapidly got grayer as the day progressed. But still we were able to see some wildlife. Before we got to the wildlife, we had to get to the ranch life.

These sheep were curious about who we were and what we were doing in their space.
This Great Pyrenees sheepdog was not pleased to see us near HIS sheep.
The origin of some of my wool for spinning, knitting and weaving.
The obligatory mule deer picture.

Bald Eagle that was feeding on a dead mule deer by the side of the road. He obliged by staying close.
Eagles that were feeding on road kill on the Interstate.

Bald Eagle watching his roadkill and waiting for us to leave him to his meal.

Next week - Road Trip, the Landscapes.

Thanks for sharing your great pictures with us!

It is truly a pleasure to view a Corgi free edition of your blog!

Those are great shots! The sheep made me chuckle for some reason. They're so sweet. Devil's Tower is definitely a place that calls people to it. I should make the trek from Minnesota sometime this year. Hmm....want to meet for a beer and photo shoot?

Anon - that sounds like an order for a double dose of Corgis very soon!

Beer and photos sound like a plan. We can look for jackalopes!

Jackalopes! I forgot about that whole idea; I used to look for them when I was a kid and my dad drove out west in the summer. Yes!

Wow - how obliging of the bald eagle to pose while you took his photo! What a great picture of an amazing bird. The sheep are cute, too.

Carla - the eagle was not shy, that's for sure. He posed for a bunch of photos.

The sheep made me chuckle too. Now I want to go shoot sheep (with my camera, to be clear). I love when animals sit still for pictures. Oftentimes, I find photographing wildlife to be a lot like photographing children- you only have a second to push the shutter button, and who knows what you'll get?!? Great pictures!

Split Pea Traveler - It helps to have a fast digital camera, that's for sure. I shoot on sports mode almost exclusively. The sheep were kind enough to pose - and so was the eagle, oddly enough.
