Fragment Friday - Flashback Edition

Flashback Friday - Max, young Jedi pup Merlin, and Anubis D'Cat

1.  Gotta love the beginning of September and fall - the shortening days, the chill in the air, the snow on the ground... Wait, what? You didn't get snow? I forget at times Wyoming is a special snowflake state. Not sure what this bodes for the upcoming winter, though.

2.  Have all my tomatoes picked, green as they are. When the weather says frost warning, I take it seriously. Hoping the tomatoes ripen up in their paper bag home. They were far to good to not give them some leeway, even the cherry tomatoes. Note to self: Next year, more tomatoes.

3.  It's funny how new artwork generally means buying new supplies for me. I need a new sketchbook, of course, for an old one won't do. I might as well get some new pencils, markers and watercolors while I'm at it. Anyone else do this when you start a new project?

4.  The Royal Corgis wish to inform everyone that they disapprove of this 'snow' stuff on the ground. It interferes with their bouncy ball playing and general supervision of the house and grounds. Time to buy more neon green tennis balls for the winter.

5.  Just when I thought a book in a series I'm reading was going to be mediocre - after all, it's book 9 - there was a twist that surprised me. Then, on the last page, was another twist I never saw coming. I put the book down going "Wow, just wow!" Love when an author can surprise me - in a good way. Any books you felt this way about?

Aww--baby Merlin is adorable! Even Mick made noises about that photo.
No snow here, but probably soon.
If new stories meant a new computer, that would be interesting and pretty awesome. But, alas, I'll stick to buying new notebooks every so often. Sigh. Maybe I should do my rough drafts in colored pencil! That would be kind of fun. Might shift the brainstorming in a new direction.

Kathleen, you certainly should try out new methods for mark making. Crayon, marker, colored pencil. It makes you look at things differently. There is something about a new notebook that primes the pump for me. Of course, I also can get 'blank page paralysis', but that's another story...

AW! MERLIN X
I have been doing a little 'thoughts with water colour pencils' this week. Kath and Jim are going to take the brunt of that soon -- let's just say the execution didn't live up to the idea -- perhaps blank pages are better left blank than desecrated by me ;)

Practice, Oonah! Besides, some of those 'mistakes' are often where the good stuff lies. I've been doing little Artist's Trading Cards this week - mostly cartoons. Helps get things flowing when I don't take it seriously. Using markers - because they don't allow for second thoughts. :)

Awww - how cute can a puppy get?

Most of your green tomatoes should ripen indoors happily enough. Mine generally do. You need to keep checking them regularly for rot, though, and chucking out any that look dubious before they infect the others. If it looks like they aren't going to ripen, you can always try making green tomato chutney with them.

I've got the tomatoes in a big brown paper bag. They are ripening - slowly. Green tomato chutney sounds good. :) Thanks for the recipe link.
